Vegetable producer on a digital transformation journey

Industry: Fruit & Vegetables

The vegetable production business of isi Gemüse GmbH unites traditional values and modern technologies

Running barefoot across the fields, the scent of earth and fresh soil filling his nose: this is how Peter Soller grew up on his parents’ farm. Although he was influenced by conventional farming methods, he recognized early on the growing demand for prewashed and precut vegetables in the trade and hospitality sectors. Enthused by this idea, Peter Soller founded the company isi Gemüse GmbH in 1999 headquartered just outside Munich. With approx. 300 hectares area under cultivation, and producing around 13,000 tons of fresh vegetables annually, isi Gemüse has gained a strong foothold as one of the leading suppliers of convenience products in this region. The company with a staff of 41 employees not only relies on traditional values and premium products, but also on advanced technologies to sustainably ensure efficiency and quality.

Introduction of the ERP system: a turning point

Following the continued growth, the introduction of an ERP system in 2020 marked an important milestone in the company’s development. The CSB-System solution specifically developed for the food industry supports all-encompassing management and monitoring of all business processes. One of the must-have tools for isi Gemüse is the integrated production planning system that optimizes the complete processing operations after the harvest. This has allowed the company not only to improve their utilization of resources but also to minimize production losses and maximize the yields. The CSB-System plays a vital role in advancing the vegetable producer’s efficiency while ensuring top product quality.

Use of technology directly in production

Another milestone in the digital transformation of the company was the introduction of specialized workstations in production that capture and process data directly at their point of origin. This allows the company to access essential information in real time and make fast data-driven decisions. From raw materials reception to packaging, all process data is accurately captured and seamlessly integrated into the ERP system.

Success through digitalization and efficiency advancement

Thanks to the structured introduction of the ERP system and the associated technologies, isi Gemüse has been able to make significant progress. Processes like inventory management and order handling are now much faster, so the company’s annually 2,000 invoices and more than 4,000 deliveries are ready to be shipped in time. Optimizations in production planning and the direct integration of production data have led to substantial reductions in operating costs and a tangible improvement in customer satisfaction. A central database creates transparency and enables Peter Soller to always make informed decisions across all business divisions, even while he is out on the fields together with his two sons.

A pioneer in smart farming

Their decision for the ERP solution from CSB-System not only promoted the efficiency of isi Gemüse. It has also made the company one of the pioneers in digital agriculture. Peter Soller’s business now is a great example of how traditional values and modern technologies can go hand in hand to ensure quality, sustainability, and business success.
